And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
~ 1 Corinthians 13:2
The Lord gives us, as Christians, the understanding of his word. He opens our eyes to new things and grants us new insight. This knowledge He gives us is a precious gift! As it says in Proverbs 2:6, "For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;" And yet, in all our knowledge, we sometimes become so focused on all that we know that it never reaches our heart. Sometimes we use the knowledge the Lord has given us for our own gain, that we might be looked upon as "righteous" by others. We become prideful in the things that we know. And yet we see here in Corinthians it says, if we lack love in our knowledge, we are nothing. Nothing! All that we thought we were, because we "know so much" doesn't amount to a thing without love. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 2 Cor. 8:2 The minute we loose sight of love, and start focusing on all we "know", that's when we can be sure that we know nothing as we ought to know. So let love reign over your knowledge, because it's nothing you did, only the Lord gives true knowledge.
